Fidya is to be paid in circumstances where one is unable to fast and there is no hope that he/she will be able to do so in future because of sickness or old age . required to feed a poor person per each fast missed giving half a Saa’ of the local staple food (equivalent of £5 per missed fast (days) is required for each individual.
Kaffarah is to be paid in circumstances where a fast is invalid or intentionally broken. A payment is then required for the broken fast. They are required to feed 30 poor people per each fast missed or broken at the rate of £5 per person (£5 x 30) £150 per broken fast.
However each case can be unique and different so, our scholars have advised that you consult with your local scholar or Imam.
